Is Anything Too Big for God?

3 Scriptures to Enlarge Your Thinking

I am just coming back from a blow-your-mind awesome time in God’s presence at the Women on the Front Lines Global Convention in Arizona. One of the things God highlighted to me last week is just how vast He is. He is everywhere and He is everything. We know this and yet we really can't fully grasp it. God is so categorically huge yet even in my awareness of Him I can have some seriously small thinking. Can you relate? When we understand the ginormous-ness of God, and we immerse ourselves in His presence the things that used to seem like insurmountable mountains now seem possible to overcome. The challenge is to stay immersed in that life-giving presence.

I read Psalm 104 today and if you haven't already, may I recommend reading it in the Passion Translation, it is so good. Listen to this language ...

Verse 4 says, "You make your messengers into winds of the Spirit and all your ministers become flames of fire."

1.  When we immerse ourselves in God, He will fill us (his messengers) with the winds of His Spirit and he will make us flames of fire. If you ever struggle with small thinking, all you need is a dose of God and His glory and everything becomes enlarged. You are not an earthly being waiting patiently to have a heavenly experience. The moment you let Jesus into your heart as saviour, you are a heavenly being who happens to be having an earthly experience. As a citizen of heaven you can experience God’s presence every single day. Push past doubt and limiting beliefs and press in to your birth right as a child of God.

Verses 8 and 9 say, "The mountains rose and valleys sank to the levels you decreed for them. Then you set a boundary line for the seas and commanded them not to trespass.

2. This scripture says that God sets the boundaries of rivers, waters and seas simply by the word of His command. It is up to him how tall the mountains would go. In the same way, God sets boundaries and protection in place for us. When we remain in His will, we are covered by His mighty hand. I was in a car accident when I was 20 years old. My car ended up flipping over twice on the highway. I had JUST given my heart to Jesus a few months before this accident. While it was happening everything was moving in slow motion and I heard a voice in my heart that said, "you are going to be fine." I knew it was true. I felt peace. I relaxed my body and said out loud, "I'm going to be fine." When the car finally “landed," it landed upside down on top of a guard rail. I was literally hanging upside down, cradled by by seatbelt. The only section of the car that was not squashed was the section I was sitting in. I didn't have a scratch or bruise on me. I was shaken up  by the trauma and a little stiff and sore from the impact but that was all. I was fine.

God wants to protect us and He wants us to lean into Him and trust Him in the midst of our trials so that He can set the boundaries for us in our lives.

Verse 9 and 10 of Psalm 104 say, "You sent springs cascading through the valleys, flowing freely between the mountains and hills. You provide drink for every living thing; men and beasts have their thirst quenched because of you.

3. A mountain cannot stop the flow of a cascading stream. It will simply reroute and keep going. God is the one who sends the springs. God wants to send His water to you despite the mountains or obstacles which may be in the way. Remember, your income is not your source. God is our provider and the fulfiller of our every need. He provides drink for every living thing. Even better than that, His promise is that we will have our thirst quenched. In the natural, when we are thirsty we need water to quench our thirst. In the spirit, when we are dry we need God to quench that thirst. If we ask Him for greater measures of His spirit and His glory, he will quench that thirst.

Psalm 104 was written with the 6 days of creation in mind. Remember though that God is the same, yesterday, today and forever. He does not change. Who He was at creation, is the same God He is today.

Your life is meant to be lived full of the awareness of God and His miracles which take place every single day. You are the apple of His eye and He has great things in store for you. Believe it! It is up to you to enlarge your thinking to be able to contain, carry and distribute that which He has prepared for you. If you ask Him, He will help you.

Is there an area in your life where God is challenging you to think bigger? Let me know what it is, I’d love to pray for you.

Think big my friend and until next time remember that you are loved and deeply cherished by Jesus and by me.
