Focus On Growth

growth life positivity thrive Oct 17, 2018

Today's blog is about thriving amidst the weeds and it is going to be short and sweet.

Read Matt. 13:24-30 for context.

This parable lets us know that even though God has planted good seeds like the word, truth, teaching, dreams and visions for the future and the pursuit of purpose in our hearts the enemy has also come when we were unaware and planted poisonous weeds in the soil of our lives.

Initially both grow mostly under the surface so we can live blissfully unaware of the weeds.

However, when the good seeds begin to sprout and bear fruit, we will inevitably begin to see the weeds maturing as well.

Do not worry and do not let the presence of weeds derail you.

It is interesting to note that from the same field, whether it be our lives, our churches, our work places or our families both good and bad fruit can thrive.

Jesus warns the disciples not to go into the field prematurely to pull up the weeds. If we do that, we risk pulling up some of the good fruit as well.

Your life is the good fruit. Focus on the destiny God has assigned to you.

Don't get derailed by focusing on the things that should not be. Things do not have to be perfect along our journey. In fact, if they seem too perfect with no weeds in sight, it could indicate that we are still baby sprouts who have yet to produce any fruit.

Remember, the fruit and the weeds seem to show up at the same time. No weeds? We likely have little fruit as well which only means we may have some more maturing under the surface to do before we see any fruit (and the weeds which will inevitably also appear).

Be ready. There will be negative people, limiting beliefs systems, jealousy, arrogance, pride and even back-biters growing in your field. However, you are still called to thrive in the midst of them and enjoy the good fruits of promise in your life despite the presence of weeds.

In fact, you must choose to overlook the negativity and purpose to grow despite the all the noise. In due time your field will be reaped and all the weeds will be uprooted first. Then, you will be left with a bountiful harvest of rich, mature wheat to contribute to God's kingdom.

If you spend all your time focused on the weeds, you will neglect your own growth and abort the fullness of harvest.

Don't do that. Grow boldly and thrive!

Until next week Gatekeepers remember that you are loved and deeply cherished by Jesus and by me.
