Let's Lift Our Eyes Up to the Heavens, That's Where Our Help Comes From

There is an old song by Brian Doerkson called, "I Lift My Eyes Up (Psalm 121." It is a lovely song and a reminder to look up to the heavens because that is where our help comes from. As I was praying this week, I kept hearing this song in my spirit and God highlighted a few things to me which I wanted to share with you.

As children, many of us may have experienced an coughing spell at the table when a piece of food or drop of a beverage when down our wind pipe instead of our esophagus.  I don't know if all parents do this or not, but in our family any time my brother or I were coughing at the table my parents would tell us to, "look at the light!" They still do it to this day with their grandchildren. Why? Looking at the light would cause us to lift our eyes (and our necks) up; creating a clear passageway for us to get more air into our lungs.

I love that because for one thing, Jesus is the light. We don't want to just look up at any random thing when we are in trouble, we want to look at the light of the world. We want to look up to the one who is the "lifter of our heads,"(Ps. 3:3).

Secondly, that action opens up our wind pipe allowing more air in so we can breathe with greater ease.

Thirdly, when we lift our eyes we change our perspective. We are not focused on the obstruction or the problem anymore. We are focused on the light. Whatever we focus on will manifest in our lives.

When we are in a trial and feel the enemy come around and try to choke the air out of our dreams, we can lift our eyes up in confidence knowing that our help comes from the Lord of Hosts, the maker of heaven and earth.  As we look to Jesus our light we can catch our breath and breathe with ease, releasing all fear, anxiety, worry and stress into His hands.

The enemy always tries to counterfeit what God has already perfected. All throughout the word of God we hear about the "good" kings who come into power in Israel and Judah and the first thing they always did was to go to all the high places and tear them down. The enemy always tries to position himself on high. He wants you to look to him instead of God. However all his promises are lies and traps that lead us into further and further pain and struggle.

Let me remind you what else we see all over the scriptures (old and new testament); we see that our God, the Almighty God, the One true God is also called the MOST High God. That is why it is critical that we tear down every high thing in our life that might exalt itself above the perfection, holiness and saving grace and power of our Lord. There is no high place that can ever surpass The Lord Most High. We want our line of sight clear of all the garbage the enemy wants to pollute our minds with. We want an open sight line to our heavenly provision.

When we lift our eyes up, let's always make sure we look to the highest high and see your redemption coming. It is on the way.

A key to seeing a turn around too is that as we look up and watch for the salvation of our God, we must watch with expectation to receive our answer. Our help DOES come from the Lord. His promises are true.

Every doubt is just another high thing that needs to be torn down.

Lift your eyes up to the heavens. That is where all our help comes from. We are not alone.

Have an awesome week beloved and remember, you are loved and deeply cherished by Jesus and by me!
