Mirrors Reflect What Needs To Be Seen

gatekeepers truth Mar 30, 2018

There has been a car commercial that has caught my eye over the past few weeks. In this car commercial the narrator says the phrase, "sometimes it is what you see looking back at you that truly moves you forward." We have been doing a series at our Women's Ministry this year called Mirror Mirror and I think that is why this commercial visually stood out to me. It is a flowing, melodic picture of a beautiful car moving through many mirrored scenes, and of course in the commercial the driver is moving elegantly forward into promise and hope and destiny.

But it was the phrase that arrested my spirit. "It is what you see looking back at you that truly moves you forward." This phrase has caused me to ponder the way many of us go through life as believers. I want to highlight two keys for growth in our faith journey which we must be intentional about pursuing and taking hold of by faith if we want to go after purpose.

Key number one is that if you can see it, you can have it.  When you look into your dreams, your beliefs, a prophecy you've had or a scripture that speaks to you and truly see it as reality, it is your truth. It becomes a firmly rooted piece of your foundational fabric that can never be removed. Did you know that the fact that you can see it as real means it has no choice but to manifest itself into reality. Scientists have proven this to be true in several theory models such as "the observation effect," "collapsing the quiff," and "theory U."  I don't have time to summarize all of these studies here but know that the power of seeing actually is believing. So what are you seeing and believing about yourself and your life?

Let me know if you'd like me to do a teaching on these scientific theories and how they prove scripture to be true and how you can apply them to your life.

I think many of us would agree that a key challenge most of us share is that we have trouble understanding whose we are and who we are.  It ties in with the whole impostor syndrome we were discussing last week. We know it in our heads that we belong to Jesus and that we are children of the most high God, but  for whatever reason intellectual awareness does not unlock the supernatural.  We must know it in our hearts and by spirit in order for us to walk in the fullness of authority which Jesus died for us to have.

Key number two is found in the scripture, "The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters!" (Rom 8:19 TPT). Why? Because when we truly know who we are no weapon of darkness and no enemy of God could ever stop us from walking in the abundant life Jesus promises for His people.

The car commercial I mentioned above is proclaiming a spiritual law without even realizing it. Sometimes it's what you see looking back at you that truly moves you forward. Who do you see yourself to be? We must look in the mirror of God's word and see ourselves for who we truly are. When we do, we will see our flaws, but then we will see those same flaws  flawlessly perfected by the power of Spirit. We will see ourselves as powerful warriors with a territory to reclaim and a kingdom to see become established in the earth. We will believe we are capable and what we believe will become a reality.

Gatekeepers, you are not weak, you are strong and mighty. You are not insignificant, you are a weapon in God's hand. You are not afraid, you are bold and on fire.

I am not negating that there is a growth process and a learning curve but remember, faith without action is dead. To many of us wait far too long before we dare to get in the game. In fact, some of us never get in the game.

The saddest thing is that we don't become great by sitting on the sidelines watching others play. We must act on what we know today. It is time that God's children stop waiting to become.  We are not called human becomings. We are human beings. We must BE who we were always created to be. If not, creation will go on groaning and waiting. Let's be the generation that ends this never-ending game.

So how do the sons (and daughters) of God get revealed? We must see it and believe it. When we do, it will manifest and it will move us all forward.

Remember, you are a gatekeeper beloved. It is time to allow the King of Glory to shine in to this world through your gates!
